Should I Replace My Gate?
11/17/2013 Back To BlogThere are many homes in Bonsall that have residential gates. If you happened to purchase a home that has one, you may feel fortunate to have an added layer of security and privacy to your property. On the other hand, you might not like the looks of it or maybe it has some difficulty opening and closing. Whatever the case may be, you really need to consider whether or not it is worth it to replace your gate.
Damages
When these things age, there may be some difficulty with their operation. Wrought iron gates are very sturdy and durable and should last for many years. Other types, though, like wood and aluminum styles may become damaged more easily. Examine the gates for any outward signs of damage and determine whether or not you could get by with just driveway gate repair. Check to see if you may need gate hinge repair or gate wheels repair. This may save you the cost of completely replacing everything.
Motor Problems
More serious problems would be those involving the motor which opens and closes the doors. If you have an electric gate not closing, it’s possible that your motor is damaged. You should check to make sure the problem is not something simple like a battery replacement first. If you have exhausted all of the simple problems, it is time to check the motor. You could just replace the driveway gate opener in some cases. In others, you may decide to replace the entire system.
Aesthetics
If you purchased a home with an existing gate that isn't your cup of tea, it may not be the best reason for replacing it. This, of course, will depend upon your budget. A new gate installation can be quite costly. Make sure you do your homework and that the project will give you some return on your investment.
